I noticed a few hours ago a hatchling from last year was in laying stance so i had been keeping an eye on her.

I saw her standing by a tree a little while ago and noticed she had layed this egg.
it is a soft shell and about the size of a small chicken egg Some one pecked it so there is a tear in it
( Photo of chicken egg next to soft shell)

The egg yoke was not developed as you can see, i separated it and it has very little yoke which is normal.

Poor sweet pea is still standing like she needs to lay and walks around a bit then goes back over to the same tree and sits like she is going to lay.
My question is should i be concerned? my other peas always look relieved and go rite back to normal after laying and egg but she is still in the stance and this worries me.

Well she is fine today, lesson learned, even a dinky soft shell egg can hurt when passing it i guess

but when i hollered peanut those wings came back up tail went down and she was at my feet to get her peanut

Passing softies is actually harder for them to do, so I'm not surprised she looked off afterwords. Glad she is better.

if you really think about this....and the logistics of it...and ahem--personal experiences? It makes a lot of sense? Just to clarify...IBS has no mercy.

I am so incredibly embarrassed right now......

LMAO subhanalah! TMI...

I agree with Kathy, cuz I have seen a few of my Guinea Hens (pullets/1st timers) struggle with softies before... soft shelled eggs are just harder to pass/harder to get moving down thru the plumbing cuz there's too much give with a soft egg... makes for a buncha work.
That poor PeaHen may take big poops, but she was probably OVERusing muscles she never even knew she had, lol

Glad she's ok Zaz.

Well, I figure my embarrassment was worth being sure no one misinterpreted what I was trying to say.
I read it after I typed it and was like...yeah, I need to be more specific.

I hope she is done laying :fl

God willing!

Does she have access to crushed oyster shell? Maybe try a cuttle bone?
