White laced red, as in Cornish, have dominant white turning the black part of the feather, (the lacing), white. Also in the case of the buff laced Brahmas. These guys attain a somewhat similiar look by having a double dose of blue diluting the black to a washed out splash.
The quick, simplized explanation, The columbian pattern has the black restricted to wing feathers, tail feathers, neck,(hackles) and saddle feathers(on males). Leaving a predominantly solid base body color of white, if silver based, or probably buff, if gold based ( in Brahmas). Proper columbian has solid based colored breast feathers, no trace of lacing. The blue light hens have a much better columbian pattern, with the black part of the feather diluted to blue in this case.
