Ongoing Quilt Projects, Continued from the "No Appreciation...." Thread

I don't think the back is weird at all, I kinda like it and though it wouldn't be my first choice to put up side on a bed it looks cool on it's own and matches the 'theme' of the quilt. Would make a great throw on a couch.

It was just the alternative to muslin or having to buy yardage. It's very thick cotton, too, so would wear better anyway. It's boxed up and ready to mail. And it did shrink to exactly what I thought, 48x62, a nice size "wubbie" quilt (the term taken from Mr. Mom). Plus, I have blocks left over to start a second one for future sale as well. It's a very cool way to use those scraps, for sure.

I lost a yard of fabric. I have no idea where it could be since they never leave my craft room and I'm fairly organized in there. I thought maybe it was tucked into a stack of different color fabric accidentally, like maybe I picked it up on the underside unknowingly, but nope. I've looked through every cubbyhole. And guess which one it was? The deep rose color for the baby quilt! I had only a small piece left of the original yardage I bought, but making the border only 2" strips, I managed to get it on. I still am perplexed as to where that fabric went!

The one on the left still needs a border. And no idea about the backing for this baby quilt, but I have until May. The next quilt will be more "manly".

Ugh, that kind of losing stuff drives me nuts. You'll find it when you aren't looking for it.

(You don't suppose Finn is off in his condo making up a lady cat quilt?)

Well, your avatar made me LOL! I was drinking coffee, but I had swallowed when I saw it, thank goodness!

Finn better keep his kitty butt out of my craft room! I still haven't found it, but I've started another project. This one is another scrap-eater, a log cabin block, about 14", red center square, but rounds on one side alternate between browns/beiges and reds, rounds on the other side alternate between med-dark blues and greens. I had quite a few scraps left over from several log cabin projects already so trying to eat those up. And I'm not paying attention to keeping each strip an exact size, though most are cut 2", as long as the unfinished block is 14.5" or so.

First block-it may look odd, but trust me, when they all come together, it will be "right". There is a method to my madness. (well, maybe there isn't but it makes me happy to be a mad quilter)

Better to be a mad quilter, than a mad hatter, right?

I always liked the log cabin pattern, looking forward to seeing how this one turns out!

I'm closing up shop for the day on quilt-making. I have this many finished so far and tons of mess in my quilt room! Going through scrap tubs in four colors is exhausting and very messy.

I suggest you go out and buy a yard of replacement fabric...because you know as soon as you do you will find the lost fabric! To speed the process just place the new fabric on the table in your quilting room, turn off the light and exit the room, saying "goodnight" to your projects....wait one hour and return to the room....the lost fabric should now be found laying with the new stuff!

Hahaha, I get it! LURE it in! May have to do that when I order more from Thousands of Bolts. It was one of those. Sigh.

Getting ready for more snow, big temp drop by tomorrow and Wednesday that will definitely kill my peach and pear blooms which are all out and gorgeous. But, our last frost date is usually mid-April. We just had a big spring weather period that fooled all the trees. My chickens won't be getting out of the barn for two more days because of this weather so I guess I'll be zipping along on the quilt projects.

Getting ready for snow here also, but for us it isn't unusual...it still sucks, but isn't unusual, lol.
Will be hibernating myself, sinuses are being a pain, so time to spend a day letting tea and warm compresses do their work. Again, not a big deal, just something to deal with once in a while.
