Ongoing Quilt Projects, Continued from the "No Appreciation...." Thread

I got the log cabin lap quilt blocks put together. I've never done one where you didn't cut every log precisely, just used strips from the scrap tubs. It makes it very country and a tad wonky, not so perfect. I like the result, but some folks would think I have crooked vision, LOL. I may put a dark green border on it since the greens used are on the inside, none will border the border, if you know what I mean.
I want to do another half log cabin but use a straight arrangement so it looks like an attic windows pattern.
I like this log cabin quilt. Very nice!

Thanks. Though most of my quilts are very coordinated and carefully arranged, this one is the embodiment of what quilting is at its heart, using what you have to create a covering for warmth. I could go further and cut up my old cotton clothes, but I must confess, I wear all those old things, LOL.

If I continued the theme, I'd just use the super dark green (almost black) I have on hand and border it with a very narrow frame and finish it out that way and I may do that. If I don't, I'll have to buy something, most likely a deep brown, which I like a little better than the dark green for this. This one will likely be a gift for someone. I don't always quilt to sell, though I do need the $$$. I MUST QUILT. The thing is that eventually, I'll run out of room to store all the stuff. My cabinet is already full!

Have you considered making a "Wonky" border for your Wonky Log Cabin Quilt?
Strips wider on one end than the other type of thing. It would set the quilt at a bit of an angle inside the border, just to bring out the "wonky" a bit more. I think it would really tie it all together nicely and show that Wonky was for real.

I really like what you have been creating.

That's a very interesting idea! No, I had not thought of that. Will have to mull it over some today.Thank you for the suggestion!

I was going to begin quilting the hearts quilt but I woke with a headache, bummer. That always stops me in my tracks, very inconvenient.

Well, I found that I had enough strips or little pieces of strips to put together a border for the log cabin quilt. I did not have any yardage at all of brown anything so wouldn't "wonkify" it, but it is a scrappy border! Needs to be trimmed up straight, but here she is.

Don't know if it is the flash of the camera or lighting or the addition of the brown edge but wow those colors show beautifully now ( had appeared very dark in earlier pic).
Dark green may still work but I think that the browns set it off great! Looks wonderful.

Hope your headache is better!

Could be that I turned on the light in the room. It has two windows and I mostly rely on the flash and the light from the windows, but had both today. I still have the super dark green for the binding. I have zero clue what to use for the backing. I never really buy a lot of yardage of any one thing, normally, so I always have to scrounge for backing material.

I still have the headache, finally took Naproxen and an antihistamine. Thought the caffeine the coffee would kick it out, but nope. I will put off any actual quilting until it's gone. That requires a lot of concentration and neck/back/shoulder strain, not good for any headache.

A hot shower or soak in a tub may do more for the headache than anything else right now...

Do you have any deep reds...more in the brown tone range rather than the 'fire engine red' shade? Or a deep red with a dark gold or brown accent design in it? Does that description make sense? I think a fabric like that would coordinate very well with the front colors.

Cyn, that brown looks great with the front! Sorry to hear a headache is messing up your day, hope you feel better soon!

No, reds are not something I keep around here much. I used most of what I have already in the scrap tubs, no yardage. I love brick reds and brown-reds, but alas, I have none right now. I'll have to buy yardage for the backing, I'm afraid.

I like the brown, too. The dark green I have is almost black so it will be okay for binding but was actually a tad dark for the border. I'll just chill on the couch for awhile today and it will be fine.
