What breed would you recommend for eggs?Cool! If you have any duck questions just ask! I raise ducks!
The Indian Runner or the Ancona! The Runner lays 200+ a year I and the Ancona lays maybe a little less but the Ancona is more of a rare duck because the are a meat breed but lay so many eggs and they are good moms as well as the Runner duck! If you read about the Runner it will say mothering not good but my experience is they are grat moms! I have a Ancona on 5 eggs right now and can’t wait to compare the breeds mothering!! Hope this helps! What breed would you recommend for eggs?
Thank you this is super helpful would it be all right to put them in a coop (860 square feet) with 6 hens and how many would be a good amount to start with? The Indian Runner or the Ancona! I would start with 2 Ancona if that’s the one you’re going with! I have 2 right now they are also friendly and even more if you raise the as ducklings! The Runners are more of a nervous breed! They Ancona lays 210-280 a year and it said they lay all year around not sure is that’s true but who knows! If you you want Runners start with however many you want!!Thank you this is super helpful would it be all right to put them in a coop (860 square feet) with 6 hens and how many would be a good amount to start with?

Breed: Rhode Island Red
Maisie is silly, kind of mean, but also lots of fun. She is probably the favorite right now.

Name: Marble
Breed: Barred Rock
Marble does not normally look this ragged. This picture was taken while she was molting. Marble is kind of shy and doesn't really like to be picked up. She likes to stand by you though, and she is a very sweet bird.

Name: Rocky
Breed: Black Australorp
Rocky is the leader of the flock. She is big, and strong, and majestic, easily my prettiest chicken. This picture was taken recently, soon after she adopted four little chicks. She is a really great mom, and she's teaching them everything they need to know about being chickens.
