Ok, I typed out a message twice, lost it twice. So now I am just going to list my accomplishments today
1. Bought ten bags of feed
2. Shipped two boxes of eggs
3. Built two , four foot long nest boxes
4. Nailed roof on new coop
5. Stapled wire on bottom of new coop
6. Painted nest boxes and put another coat on coop exterior.
7. Set 48 more eggs
DH cut down trees and chopped and carted wood, stacked it by the house. At least we will be warm this winter. Set eggs tomorrow to hatch on Christmas day:)

We sold some young chickens today and they did pretty good $7 each. They had a lot of Christmas stuff and other merchandise,so it took all day. I dropped them off at noon, drove home and fed the chickens .messed around ,then i went back at 4 and they just started selling chickens. We considered buying a fat goat, a $80 horse and a young mule. Fortunately we did't buy anything and came home with the chicken check , Tomorrow we are taking a hog to butcher and it's been tough for me.I wish i didn't get so attached to them. The plan is to eat one and sell one.It sounds like you had a fun day , i love Bob newhart.

The weather was overcast all day with periodic sprinkles and occasional rain. DH had a lot of energy and built the frames for the runs , to attach to the new coop. I put a top on one of the nest boxes, and did a lot of painting. Also installed the new quail feeder I built, put in the waterer and then the quail. Finally they are into the duplex ! That Polish hen showed up back in Guinea Town where she used to live. I managed to catch her and put her in with the other buff lace polish. Soon they will move to the new coop.
My IBS is making me suffer. The worst part is, I have been suffering for 30 years, and there is no cure in sight. The good part is, it does not hurt when I am asleep. Had a nap this afternoon, it was bliss .

Packed and shipped four boxes of eggs today. Picked up my new printer at Walmart, saved $30. by shopping online on Black Friday!
Still ugly outside. Rain on and off , cold and possible snow by morning. The hens are not impressed. It's impossible to get anything done outside without getting wet and cold. Dropped my truck off at the shop today so they can try and figure out why it sometimes won't start.
More boxes of eggs to pack and ship for tomorrow. Need to go down to the barn and see how those girls are doing.

Today I packed and shipped five boxes of eggs. That takes a while to wrap up all those eggs! My truck was still sitting at the mechanics shop so I had to get my neighbor to drive me to Henderson post office. Bought more packing tape, I was almost out.
I am feeling quite miserable with this IBS, kind of like there is a mouse in my guts chewing away. I tried OTC stuff but I am giving in and going to the doctor tomorrow . Of course no appointments until afternoon so I have to go to town with DH in the am and get the truck, then go back in the afternoon for the appointment
There was snow all over when I got up this morning. Shudder. I kept piling wood into the stove all day and it is still burning. Every time one of us wakes up at night we put a log in.
I did work for a little while on winterizing one of the coops . Filling gaps with wood scraps, making pop holes smaller. I think it is going to be a long hard winter. Two snow falls already, that is about what we usually get all winter:p

Deb.. I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering so.. no fun I know.. sending you love and hugs

I agree that this winter has all the indications of being a rough one. We have had rain for the past couple of days.. now the temperatures have turned COLD.. no snow down this far so far..but I feel like January and Feburary are going to see temperatures in the freezing range.. We plan to winterize the coops this weekend once we finish the new coop for the BBS Orpingtons. Believe it or not.. we have rolls of shrink wrap we are going to use. DH shrink wrapped the coop last winter and I thought he was nuts when he told me what he was doing while I was at work.. and I admit that I told him "What the heck".. but he proved me wrong as the chickens stayed draft free and dry all winter..even through a couple of ice storms.. so we look like we have large seran wrapped packages on our property..but the chickens stay somewhat warmer.. especially since they are dry and out of the wind.

Well time to get ready for work.. I have to take 4 dozen eggs to school today.. my darn hens have slowed down in the past week so of course my eggs orders are stacking up.. next week is our last week before Christmas holidays.. so I have my fingers crossed that I can fill them all before school is out.. I gave 4 dozen to the local church for distribution and that always happens.. I give away my stockpile, go to school on Monday to find egg requests in my mailbox.. but I feel good about being able to help others less fortunate in these economic times..

Yall have a great day -- I won't be home until 6:30 at the earliest.. BOO!!!

Got up early so i could get a ride in town with DH and pick up my truck. Almost $300.00 to get a new starter. It was starting about 90% of the time, but that just isn't good enough . I had an appointment to see the doctor in the afternoon, but didn't want to wait so I saw the nurse practitioner instead. I had an XRay, and they confirmed what I already knew. I am FOS.

They wrote me an Rx for Miralax, and it's an OTC medication. At least they are referring me to a gastroenterologist so I can get checked out. My aunt died of colon cancer. My guts are still killing me. I had a bad night last night, so much pain I broke out in a sweat.
It was tempting just to rest, but the sun was shining so I decided to work more on the new coop. I got the divider installed, the boards across the width to hang feeders and waterers on. Cut the last two boards for the ends, and put the tops on the nest boxes. Of course, I had to feed all the critters. Just got started and a guy showed up to buy 4 dozen eggs. I did end up going back to town to pick up medication and mail a box of eggs. The miserable dog pulled stuff out of the garbage can and strewed it all over the back yard. So I had to keep bending over to pick it up. Ugh.
Chicken auction again this weekend, I need to get rid of some of these excess roosters. And you never know what I might find:D PS thanks for your well wishes Shelly and Jim.

Deb, so sorry you aren't feeling good sweet heart!

Haven't had much time for chicken chatting as my mother calls it, but I have a little spare time so I thought I'd drop in to say bwaak bwaak to everyone.

I'm picking up around 31 Bantam Orpingtons tomorrow evening. 5 are adults, the rest juveniles. A breeder friend of mine is giving them all to me for free. Such a sweety guy. He bought some Cream Legbars and needed some room for them, and his Chocolate and Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons. I am excited to see what all he has now. Last time I was there he only had a trio of Chocolates, now he has a bunch of them. He has been selling and hatching out there eggs, so I'm excited to see what he's hatched out.

Hey Aspen, been thinking about you! Neat to get all those free chickens. I got three free ones recently, someone bought them , raised them, and wanted to get rid of them because they were eating the garden. So I got a silkie pullet, a BR cockerel, and a light brahma cockerel. Good timing, because the chicken sale is this weekend. I will keep the pullet and maybe the BR. I don't like the one I have, he is rough on the hens.
Thanks for the well wishes. When you suffer for over 30 years, sometimes you just can't take it any more. Don't feel like eating, nauseated and so much pressure in my guts. I have already given up Coke, Rum, red meat, and dairy products. Oh and I can't drink OJ anymore, too acid. I keep taking more medication but the one that really helped got taken off the market:p Going to the specialist, had Xrays today. Guess what? I am full of _ _ _ _. But you knew that.

I can't handle milk, or honey too well. But yogurt, and cheese I can get along with. I used to eat alot of cereal, but since I stopped eating raw milk I started eating a whole lot more yogurt. You do need some dairy products, as they give you calcium.

I try and eat mostly fruits and vegitables, but sometimes that is so hard! Ugh!!
