I have a blue splash and a blue roo, three blue hens, a blue splash hen, and two black hens. Had a white roo but sold him, no girls to put with him. Then I have a black bantam cochin rooster, a black pullet and three blue pullets. Not laying yet, but very nice and I love their personalities.

I would like to see pictures of your bantam Cochins. I simply adore them!! I have a trio or Splash and a trio of Lavenders. Then I have one Black Cochin chick that I hatched out from one of my Lavender hens. The father was a Millie Fleur Cochin, I cannot wait until she starts to lay so I can cross her with something!

Hi Aspen, I don't have pics of them yet but will try to take some. Maybe I can post some pics of my LF cochins.

Today DH helped get the frame of the runs made, but it ended up smaller than I would have built it. I don't turn away helpers though. I worked on filling gaps in , fixing the end of the coop where it was just tacked on by someone. Started tacking the wire , got half of the run roof done and two sides. We got the perches up as well. Not much longer and hopefully it will be ready for occupants:)

Yesterday was a busy one at Meyersville..after hubby went to his bid meeting which determines his trucking run for 2012 (he got one he wanted thankfully) and a trip by a local tree farmer to pick out our Christmas tree, we worked ALL day and finished the coop for the Blue/Black/Splash Orpingtons in time to move most of them as dusk.. won't they be suprised when they wake up this morning in new "digs". We winterized it as we were finishing up.. so they should be nice - rain and draft free.. just in time too since we are due for rain today. There are two more to move.. they blended in with the main flock.. not sure what rooster was hiding those last two hens.. but we will track them down today..

Next construction plan is to bridge the gap between the two coops in that area with a duplex for some of my smaller groups.. probably end up with Polish and Silkies side by side.. keeping my fingers crossed to get that done before the new year..

Last but not least.. got my eggs set for the New Years Hatch.. due chicks on Christmas and New Years.. not to mention all dates in between..

In fact, anyone hatching near that time frame is welcome to join the Chicks for Christmas thread! It has really taken off. Maybe we will make it an annual event. Look under Incubation and hatching in the index.
Today I went shopping , shipped eggs and finally finished chores around 10 pm. Now I am trying to catch up with BYC. Sadly, I had a hen prolapse and when I discovered it, I was too late to save her. It always upsets me when one dies, especially if I am not here. But I have to go get feed sometimes, so what can you do?
Have been trying to figure out things to buy for DH for Christmas, he is very hard to buy for. I asked him what he wanted, he says I don't need anything, if I want something, I buy it.:p
it was a crazy day, chicks and quail hatching left and right. I am going to be busy all morning tomorrow packing eggs. What are you guys up to?
