I've been looking through the discussions posted. I am totally new to having chickens but as a preventative measure, I am wondering what types of problems are common the most and what is best to treat them with. As I live in a very rural , isolated area, supplies would have to be ordered in and so I am wondering if there is a place that you can order online for a few common items that I should have on hand. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks.

first state vet has a emergency kit with about 15 different commonly used drugs for emergency. you can get the whole kit for 19 dollars I believe. you can find the kit on first state vet supply online. it also comes with a sheet that tells you exactly how to use the medication and for what. its very nice. the bottles have a few uses to each bottle. this kit is a great place to start with your own emergency kit. I started making my own kit and I purchased this kit I'm referring to. in my kit I have several water soluble medications to target different illness I have four different types of injectables I have crop bound capsules a tube and syringes for tube feeding I have sutures and sprays. common things like gloves vet tape ect. it took me awhile to get everything but its almost finished. I think this is a very good idea! go to First state vet supply and take a look at the nice kit they have. this would be a perfect start for your own emergency kit.
