Only $0.09 a LB.!

something is very wrong when (even organic) a cabbage is $4/lb
that is really really wrong!

where do you live ? who is buying it? I bet they throw a lot away at that price! I would complain loudly about that !!! cabbage is easy go grow and considering they can weigh in heavy that is one crazy expensive cabbage

organic here is running about 45-50cents/lb nonorganic is under 20cents depending where you go it is as low as 10 cents a lb

I couldn't believe it. I asked the produce guy what was wrong with it. I figured it had been frozen or something and he said they are just doing it for Patty's day. I wish I knew how to do kraut. I don't have a crock either. One huge head was 4cents.

I just sit on pins and needles for this time of year.. I buy several cases of cabbage for chicken greens at this time.. it will be weeks before we see any green on the ground.. I just take the whole head and toss it on the floor.. the chickens go apesh-- over it.. I once timed it how long it took to disappear.. it was just a few minutes..

It might have been just co-incidence, but my egg production peaked..

It doesn't make any difference how big or small the heads are...You are buying it by the pound...

and for fun, put one outside for the geese.. they make a circle around it and tear it to pieces in less time than the chickens do..

you do not have to ct it up..

How much do the farmers make when cabbage is so low? Do the stores absorb the cost to attract shoppers during this season?

Oh yeah, my chickens will go hungry before they even eat cabbage. Makes me wonder if they're worried that they'll poot.

I cannot believe your chickens won't eat cabbage..

I have 55 laying hens.. I am going to time it.. I will put a whole 10# cabbage in with them.. I am willing to bet up front that there will be nothing left in 5 minutes.. It is an awesome display..
