Only broody 5 days...too soon to insert chicks???

I have a broody that has been sitting for 5 days. She's sitting on 2 golf balls.

Do you think that if I slipped some chicks under her even though she's only been sitting for 5 days that she would buy it?? I really don't want to wait 21 days to give her chicks and the stores around here are all done stocking chicks. I can get some at the feed mill but they're going fast. So what do ya' think? Would she buy only brooding for 5 days?? Or do you think that would really send her hormones into some craziness??

I have never tried but I would think it is too soon. I remember reading a post where someone tried this around two weeks and it didn't work out, don't know if it was her particular broody though. Seems to me like chickens have a clock in their head and would be able to tell. On the otherhand she might end up being happy to have babies whether they are hers or not. I would definately try with the youngest chicks you can find....
