Hmmm. After the latest battle in the great Blueberry wars I see that winning is a lot about technique.
While Mr. Chips was once again the clear victor (I honestly cannot imagine him ever giving up food to the ladies!), both Calypso and Cookie did rather well.
Calypso is the only one who swallows whole regardless of size of blueberry (and there were some huge ones!), and this means she is able to consume more per minute than anyone else.
Cookie uses a different approach - she hangs back and swoops in when any other hen puts their blueberry down in the ground.
I need to go buy more blueberries.

Good source of antioxidants & selenium especially for layers.

We always look for the organic labels & while treating the hens I pop a few in my mouth too... irresistible!

My chooks are molting everywhere.
Feathers are flying. Rock feathers, Wyandotteys feathers are everywhere. I started a (no tail, but it’ll grow back) club. I have been spending a fortune on feather fixer, game hen high protein feed, and laying hen feed.
I feel bad for CeeCee. She lost her tail her face looks kinda worn out.
I do not know what I will do with that neighbors hen that keeps popping out so many game birds, that come over to eat my bird feed.

How do they get in? Good & high fences make good neighbors... specially if they are chickens. Our hens can be noisy for a few seconds but they can't invade a neighbor's yard

And Then There Are 3

Having relearned my lesson by only having 2 Polish I decided that only getting one more polish to try and pair with Niamh may not have been wise. Therefore, we now have another polish.

Everyone meet Tilly.

She is a gold laced Polish who came to us from Texas. There were no polish anywhere near us so I had to have her shipped here overnight.

She arrived mid-morning safe and sound. She is just over 4.5 months old. Tilly is in the rabbit hutch under quarantine.

It took quite a bit of enhancement but it should work as a suitable place for her to serve her time.

I now have 2 different quarantines going on opposite sides of my yard.

Hopefully, by having seperate quarantines no one will bond before they are all put together in the Cluckle Hut and start learning from Niamh. I surely hope this works. If not, this is the last time I'm going to try something like this.

They get under the fence in the morning. At bedtime they may go back to the neighbors yard. I did find them all in the coop at bedtime once. Sneaky little twirps.

DH doesn't like menial tasks either... like peeling or mincing food down to beak size for the chickens so I get that deflected honour...
