Mamma was sitting on four eggs and only one hatched last night! I was planning on separating the chicks to a different run to raise them. I know I can't do that with one chick! So I am letting it stay with Mamma and the rest of the flock but there are a few things of which I'm unclear...

How do I feed the chick chick starter and the rest of the flock layer pellet if they are all together? Would it work to just feed everyone starter and offer calcium separately?

The chick cannot go up the ramp into the coop at night. Will Mamma stay with the chick? The run is safe, but will the chick be cold and sad to be alone at night? Should I give it something on which to sleep?

If you have a place where you could put the mom and chick then that would be better.
But if you don't then I'd put the baby in the brooder and try and buy another chick to keep him company.

You may wait a couple of days and see if anymore hatch. My Buff Orpington hen is sitting on eggs laid over a 10 or 12 day span. I doubt they will all hatch on the same day.
