Hi, i have 2 young hens (black sex link and red sex link) and they have start laying 5 weeks ago. I think there only
one of the girl who lay eggs because i got only 1 egg a day.

Any ideas of what can be the cause of this situation ??

There can be more than 1 reason for this..
Maybe your chicken is going thru a molt. ??? It does not make logical sense to go into molt so soon but all is possible.
Maybe your chicken is stressed out or sick ???
Maybe the diet the chickens are eating is not ideal to egg production.???
Maybe weather related factors are in play. ??? You don't disclose your location so it may be very hot or very cold at this time. (northern hemisphere is summer and southern hemisphere is winter now,) BYC is worldwide members.
Be patient and treat your chickens well and all may turn out well in short order.

WISHING YOU BEST

Thanks for the awnser !!

I'm from Montreal,Canada.
So its summer time and temp is around 85F.
I feed my hens with chicken food that come in a big 80 pound bag.
(food look like a cereal mix with pieces of corn)
Fresh water every day
They live in a nice coop with a perch and they have access to the
backyard during the day.

That is very strange because i'm pretty sure that is the black one who lay eggs
and she lays 6 days a week nice brown eggs. And the red one dont lay a single
egg ??

How sure are you that only one hen is laying? young pullets don't necessarily lay an egg every day, perhaps they are both laying alternatively?
Other than that its possible that the non laying hen is a slow starter coming into lay .... I used to Breed La Bresse Gauloise chickens and also Croad Langshans.
The La Bresse Gauloise pullets came into lay at 14 weeks and the Croad Langshan not until 30 weeks. So please be patient if you continue feeding and watering your birds correctly you will have your eggs soon.
I hope this helps.
Patrick.

That is possible. But my to hens are the same breed (sex link) and they are born the same day.

I will wait a fews weeks and see what happen.

Red sex link and black sex link are not the same breed, they are 2 seperate breeds. If they both have about the same size combs and wattles then you are probably getting an egg every second day from each hen.
If there is a difference then 1 has not reached puberty yet.

Sexlinks are not 'breeds', they are crosses.

One may start laying earlier than the other, just be patient.
But 5 weeks is a big difference and usually sexlinks lay darn near everyday.
How old are they birds?
Can you post a pics of them?

Is in it strange !!

I start the post yesterday and when i take a look this afternoon, there was 2 eggs in the coop :)

Now i have to find out how to get the girl to lay theirs eggs in the nest box, not on the floor.

It is also possible that your girls secretly are on BYC and read your post........ Most likely using I phone app.
They figured its better to shape up than get shipped out.
