I'm brand new at this, but it 's not looking good in the incubator right now. The first egg I candled tonight was so exciting! The little bugger was moving all around in there. The rest had big dark shadows and no movement at all that I could see. Late death? Should I remove them and see if my lone chick hatches?? I'm worried to have only one chick in the brooder.... she will be so lonely! :(

How many days has it been since you set the eggs? Is this the first time you've candled them? Can you see air cells at the large end? I would wait a couple more days and check again. ;)

It's been 8 days. No air cells on most of them when I could see them before. But again I've got no experience, just what I've read and the huge difference in how the eggs look to me at this point.... :-/

Since you are new at this, I would recommend waiting until day 14 (or even 18) to toss any eggs. By that time you will be able to see a more clear difference between good eggs and bad or infertile eggs.

Thanks or the calming advice.... I'm now seeing movement in at least 3 more of my eggs! So exciting!! :D
