Only ordering a few!!

I put three Mille Fleur chicks in and the complete total was $61.50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess just for 3 chicks that's awesome! Plus, they weren't going to be to my house until may 24. But, they do have a huge selection of rare chicks like black and red frizzle!

Also, did you look in the 1-8 week old chick for sale section here? There might be some breeders close to you that are selling chicks.

Oh Thanks every one, I'll look every where you suggested. Thanks

To me it's worth the extra money for the heat pack(which no one else seems to do:he) and this just makes sense to me!!! I think alot of people would pay extra for a heat pack to be added to any order!

Anywho...that being said...to get exactly what you want plus they sex the banties for ya ...I SAY GO FOR IT! Sometimes it's just worth the money!

But...make sure if your ordering silkies you look at the meyerhatchery pics b/c that's what quality your getting. I got to used to looking at everyone's gorgeous silkies on here and broke down and got hatching eggs from sassysilkies.com! I wanted a NICE quality spalsh & cuckoo silky bearded and the only way to get that was to hatch out my own! You could always do go that route for the price of the birds and the shipping you could easily get a small bator and some NICE hatching eggs and then sell the extras on craigslist or here! I KNOW I'm probably causing TROUBLE right now!

If Dad says no to hatching just stick with plan A! Or on second thought...I know someone local about 40 mins. north from me(I'm in South Jersey) this guy has BEAUTIFUL HIGH quality silkies and also I think Ameraucanas? PM me if you want his contact info...I'm sure he would be happy to sell you a couple cuties! He is really nice and takes great care of his birds! Blessings, Keri:thumbsup

Check out the breeders list here on BYC. They made it kind of difficult to put a listing in but a lot of breeder have done it. Also google "hatchery myhometown, state" as there are a lot of us little hatcheries out there who would love to sell you chicks. Just as with the big hatcheries, do your homework as not all hatcheries are created equal.

I would say just go for it. We only wanted 5 hens when we first ordered but ended up ordering 7 instead.

We ordered from MPC and are extreamly pleased with our chickens. It is up to you, MPC was just convienent and the easiest for us to do.

We've had great success with selling extra chicks on craigslist. We've ordered 25 chicks twice now (with another coming soon). We only intended to keep about a dozen, so we put an ad on craigslist when they were about 3-4 weeks old. They sold like hotcakes! It's especially easy to sell Easter eggers, and for some reason people around here love the black australorps. This year we even coordinated with a lady who posted that she was looking for some chicks, so we ordered extras of what she wanted. We know that if something falls through with her, we should have no problem selling them to somebody else.

We've found that many people don't want to deal with the sensitivity of the chicks for the first few weeks, but they still want them young. It works great for us to raise them for about 3 weeks, then sell some. That also gives us time to sort out who's who, since we get a mix of breeds and can't always identify all of them as peeps.
