ONSET AGE OF EGG LAYING

oK, I'm a newbie to these girlie birds...but loving every minute of it! However, around what age should I begin to expect them to start laying? Mine are young...around 3 months I think...
 
I think you have any where from 3-4 more months to go. I could be wrong though. I think they usually start 6-7 months of age, depending on breed.

I agree with Wolf-Kim, the breed can be a factor on when they start to lay. Maybe if you post the breed, someone with that breed can post their experience?
 
Thanks... the girlies are 2 buff orpingtons and 2 rhode island reds....maybe somemore info will flow with that tidbit of knowledge added to the post!

Yep, the best rule of thumb is around 20 weeks. Some will start sooner, and some a little later.
