Hi!
That's true and is another of the keen things about chickens --- the variety and colors of the different breeds (I guess many critters that have been bred for thousands of years are like that).
I just added 2 new breeds here on the sandhill, Jersey Giants and Seramas (talk about extremes) --- the Giants are just beautiful, but I'm still on the fence about the Seramas.
The only chickens I ever sold because I just flat didn't like looking at them were the original Naked Neck girls I bought to start making the Naked Neck x Silkie crosses.
They were sweet-natured girls and great layers of large brown eggs, but were buff / red, had garish red skin, huge combs and I was glad to see them go to another home.
I sold my silver laced Wyandottes because they were *too* laid back --- they squatted for any roo that looked at them and stayed bare-backed. They were pretty, tho.
Thanks!
Unless there is some sort of *chicken-catastrophe*, I always have Silkie eggs available.
$18.00 per dozen (75 cents an egg and $9.00 for shipping and handling).
Just shoot me an email when you are thinking of hatching and I'll be happy to save eggs for both of you!
