Oops: Thread for sharing stupid things you did

I worked nights when my kids were little, so I was home all day with them and up late working. Like all moms, I was exhausted all the time. This led to stupid mistakes.

I was a volunteer at my older son's preschool. I would load up my younger son in his infant carrier and take him along. My older son was... a difficult child. So one day, I was dragging him out to the car, kicking and screaming after preschool one day. I get him fastened into his car seat after much fussing and arguing. I get in the car, throw it in reverse, and my older son said, "Where's the baby?" He was in his infant carrier sitting on the lawn.

It's amazing my kids survived...

Another time, I was running late dropping off the kids at school a few years later. It was raining. My older son was still difficult, and my younger son had since been placed on the Autism spectrum. Mornings were chaotic. And it was raining cats and dogs that day. Of course.

I get them into school, rushing them from the car just in time for the bell to ring. Get back put to my car in the parking lot. I'd locked my keys inside. While it was running. And parked in a no-parking zone.

Kids. Heck, it's a wonder any of us PARENTS survive! 🤣

This is one that never fails to get a laugh.

When I was a kid, Mom would ask me to do laundry. She said to use a scoop of powder. Fast forward to when I moved out on my own. I had to buy detergent and had to pick one. Fab! I had seen the ads on TV. How could I go wrong?

I met my wife and said that laundry sure does take a long time. Why? Because the instructions say to wash the colors separately.

I had a load of blues, whites, browns. After that, I only bought blue and brown towels and sheets to keep the number of loads down.

What a jerk.

Eh, not a jerk. Perfectly logical!

This one's for Father's Day!

Used to go back country hiking with my dad when I was younger. We used to catch/hunt fir all our food. One time, we were headed up into the Sierras (somewhere above Kennedy Meadows). As we were getting our gear out, he accidentally shut the trunk on our fishing poles and broke them. We used branches instead and were pretty successful.

That same trip, Dad (normally super prepared) forgot to pack our tent, so we tied down branches to make a shelter. Of course if poured overnight and we ended up drenched and covered in mud!

To top it all off, he attempted to dry out our boots next to the fire the next day and partially melted mine.

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
