Cocks who have no fear of humans will not tolerate them in their breeding territory and will try to flog and run them away. It is not a guarantee as some cocks are quite friendly to everyone but it can happen. I think I’ve got a peacock!!! I think you are right. I swear it literally grew green feathers overnight on his shoulder/back and his other feathers are showing more of that diamond design.
