Opa's place -Where an old rooster visits with friends

Hi PK! How are you, I think of you often. Is Granddad there yet?

I'm good, school is almost over. Grandpa isn't here yet, but he will be here on August 22nd. (That's a compound sentence, I think)

Opa, that's kind of silly!

Hope you and Grandpa will be spending lots of time indoors, it's going to be hot in August. I imagine you're glad for the upcoming break from school. And Grandpas are mighty special.

Hi everyone,

Cold and rainy here, the weather just can not make up it's mind. In the 90's 2 weeks ago, and in the 50's now. Gotta love New England weather. School is out soon, on the 21st. I can not wait, no work for the whole summer. Well, no school work that is, I still have to take care of the kids(DH included), and the gardens and the chickens. That stuff is fun though.

Ranchie, great find there. Oh by the way, are you a good witch or a bad witch? I sometimes feel like Glenda, and sometimes I feel like the wicked witch of the east myself.

Mom is still in the hospital, but it looks like she will be home on Monday. That's another good thing about summer vacation, we can spend lots of time with her.

That's great, Mamagardener!

And guess what? I'm a canidate for the Crazy Pullets summer leader!

Question-

why is it down south school is out mid May usually, Michigan is around the 12th or so, and New England isn't until June 21st?

I don't understand the huge difference in the schedules. Is number of days different to attend school different in each state?

I'm just curious

In Webberville, MI they start after labor day and are done before memorial day. No teacher works days during the week, they are all on Saturday. They still must take few vacation days throughout the year too.
I really like that schedule!
