Opa's place -Where an old rooster visits with friends

Sprite, I will look forward to your pictures. When I was there I stayed at the Sir Francis Drake hotel. At the time it was a pretty fancy place, don't know if it still is. Of course I rode the cable cars, walked up Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world, went to China Town, and Fisherman's Wharf. At Pier 39 I saw wild sea lions for the first time.

Have a good time PK, my husband and I spent part of our honeymoon in San Francisco. We had a great time, and we did all the things that Opa mentioned. We also went on a cruise of the bay. Hope the weather is nice for you, and don't forget to post those pictures.

For the last several weeks I've been watching a pair of eagles at the Norfolk Botanical Garden near Hampton Roads Va. I've looked at a lot of nest cams and I've never seen one that is as good as this one. http://www.wvec.com/marketplace/microsite-content/eagle-cam.html The first eaglet hatched March 13th and the 3rd hatched on the 17th. I've watched the parents feed them fish, ducks, and I think seagulls. This morning there was some white bird carcass on the nest and when I checked at noon there were white feathers every where. Certainly is interesting seeing how fast they grow. I think they will be flying by the twelth week.

Good Morning Everyone

I was suppose to start my holiday yesterday and ......what a disaster.....

Was suppose to fly out of Williston ND and be in Nashville by 10:30pm....well, the plane broke down....got a limo ride to Minot ND (2 hour drive), shacked up in a low rent motel and got a new flght out at 3 this afternoon.......MAYBE!

Hopefully, I can get started having fun in the morning! I am still on schedule to visit Ranchie on Monday so.....

to Ranchie for me!

I'm not sure what this place has done to me. Three years ago my husband suggested we get a few chickens for the garden. I wasn't keen but went along with it. Since then I have had as many as 84 and as few as 3 but now I think I have really lost the plot. At the moment I have 13 chickens. 12 of those are cockerels. I have a hatch going on right now of Marsh Daisies that BYC member Gypsy07 sent me and as soon as it is finished I am setting 12 duck eggs and 4 goose eggs to replace the one duck that a fox got last week. I am already in talks with gypsy about her sending me some more Daisy eggs as soon as that one has finished. I was eyeing up Guinea Fowl eggs on Ebay the other day and my hubby thinks I should raise some turkeys for Christmas. What the dickens has got into me?

Lets not even mention the rheas!

I think I need a bigger incubator.

Thistle, you should butcher about eleven of those cockerels. I'd bet if you ground them up, and spices and oatmeal you'd have something like haggis but it would be made from chicken instead of the running gears from a sheep.

I intend to. I bought a new super duper neck breaking machine that should make the process a whole lot easier and less messy.

Chicken haggis? You might be on to something there!

My darlin' daughter, Your own personal neck breaker? You certainly are turning into quite the farmer.

Wonder if Harlan has finally left the frozen north and made significant headway on her trip south. I'm envious. The morning is cold and gloomy and our forecast for this afternoon is calling for snow. At the end of the movie "Jeremiah Johnson" one line comes to mind that seems appropriate for how I think most of us feel, "winter has been a long time leaving".

It's a guillotine, she thinks she's Marie Antoinette now! Actually, I saw a pic and it looks like it will make the job easier and faster. As long as you're not the rooster.....

Looking forward to seeing Laura and the gang! Got a little carried away yesterday and trashed my hip by waltzing with the dog - yes, it really WAS waltz music, and he's a pretty good dancer!

Though the peak of the flowers blooming has passed by, there's still a pretty good display. And it's predicted to be 77F, a welcome relief from 6' of snow.

Ranchie I'm not the least bit surprized that you were waltzing. Since your last birthday you have become to old to two step.
