Opa's place -Where an old rooster visits with friends

The young guy (45) who lives across the street has boat in the truck bay of my shop and is replacing the floor. I just went out to see how he's coming with it and to ask if he wanted to sit down and eat with us. I told him that he might not want to since all we're having is beans and cornbread. I was a little surprized at how quickly he accepted. Lots of these northern boys won't eat beans.

I'm going to put a yak roast on for dinner tomorrow but I'm going to be selfess and not invite anyone to share it.

Sounds like a big job, not only pulling and/or combing, but, separating as well. Caycee could be doing that in her spare time.

Good research, Sam. Yes, spinners prize yak hair, because the microfibre count is very comparable to cashmere. Furthermore, it doesn't produce static during the spinning process like sheep's wool does. The underlayer, which is what is combed out in the Spring and spun into yarn, is a hot commodity. Problem is, I just don't know if I can run every yak we've got through the squeeze chute every day and spend hours brushing them out all by myself with DH at work during the day. They're not exactly docile creatures, so they would have to go through the chute. It takes a week or more of brushing on a daily basis to harvest all the wool. The underlayer supposedly felts beautifully, too. The outerlayer is used for human hair extensions and wigs. Most clown wigs are made from yak hair.

For some reason that made me laugh.
Sally, you should have brought your ducks down here today for their first swim-it's been raining all day.

I hate days when I can't work outside.
I have nothing to add because I have been cleaning the house today-BORING!
Anyway, hope you all had a good day today.

Ranchie Does Todd know your oogling clowns?

ETCThe talk about bluebells reminded me of one thing that's wrong with Michigan, we can't get BlueBell ice cream. I remember one of their commericials with 2 old men stating "we make Bluebell ice cream. We eat all we can and sell you the rest".

YakLadyTry running an help wanted ad. Some like "wanted to hire several short tibetan kids with experience in yak raking"

LOL, Sam, he doesn't mind! I think you and I being friends aces all clowns!

"Bluebell makes the best ice cream in the country" Because we have Belle, the singing cow - moo-ooo, moo-ooooo..........

Regarding the Bluebell Ice Cream-the creamery is about 1 1/2-2 hours from here in Brenham and I've never been-reason being, I hate ice cream(I think I am the only person alive that hates it). Love the cow, though, asked DH if I could have one and he put the big kaibosh on it...buzzkill.

Sprite, sometimes I think my entire life has been one act of random silliness followed by another. Besides how else could I explain 3 or 4 hens rapidly becoming 40?
