I was wondering who is using open coop designs and if they work in areas that get some snow?
we have elevation of about 3300 feet where I am moving but the winters are not bad. 20-30 would be usually the coldest.
We can get anywhere from 2-4 feet of snow in the winter ( not at once lol) though 2 happens here and there.
post any pics if you have them.
Should they face North? just looking for ideas

I have an open Woods style coop. The open end faces south, to a little south east. You want the open end facing away from your winter prevailing winds. Snow has not been a problem with mine, the little bit that gets past the screened front amounts to nothing to worry about. I get temps sometimes into the single digits. and the birds have no problems with it. See the link below to see the coop.

I might not be much help because it doesn't snow here. But its really hot so my coops are wide open. My coops face towards the prevailing wind & the bad winds are blocked off.
