Open sore and permethrin dip (not emergency)

No, I haven’t brought her inside yet, I’ve been avoiding it while she had such a heavy infestation. It seems better now, so I feel more comfortable about bringing her inside. I will do that this afternoon and be sure she doesn’t go back out until dry completely. Shes our favorite, so we’d love to spend time inside chatting with her. She’s a chatter box.

Good news! Sore is very small today. Got her feathers all scrubbed up, removed a lot of dirt and dead mites. Did see a single barely moving one. I was looking ferociously, too, so that made me happy. Will powder everyone down once more tonight and check again in 5-7 days. She has quite a bit of that yellow yucky scabbing stuff the mites build into their houses on her skin, so I imagine that will shed in time.

Wow that is really awesome. I’m going to look into that more and maybe try to get some to keep on hand. Thank you so much for sharing. That would be a really great solution versus doing a dip for folks in colder climates
I had never heard of it, so was glad to hear about it.

Hopefully the Mites are going going gone!
