My chickens butt is swollen and red. It doesn't feel like an egg its soft and fluid filled. She was attacked and the wound looks like its now infected. Is there something I can put on it to fix her or is this a situation for culling ?

Where is this located on the body?

More photos showing the location/context of the wound would be helpful.

What attacked her?

Any bad odors?
Any maggots in the wound?
The redness looks like chicken skin that's been rubbed, often seen in laying hens, I assume this is below the vent?

How is her behavior? Is she moving about, active, eating/drinking on her own?

Clean the wound with Chlorhexidine, then apply triple antibiotic ointment.

We don't have any information to make a suggestion of culling, you are there to access the wound and her condition, so that decision is up to you.

This is well below the vent. Could have been from a scratch or rubbing. No oder. She's acting fine, drinking and eating. I didn't catch what attacked her but my other chicken is missing so I'm assuming something got her. No maggots.
