It is better to use Vetericyn or a similar wound spray, chlorhexidene 2%, or saline on the wounds. Peroxide may keep the wound feom healing. Keep applying antibiotic ointment to the wound until it starts healing. Later, BluKote may be used.

Most wounds on chickens don't need to be stitched. And stitching can close in bacteria and make things worse. As said, keep it covered in ointment and moist, it will slowly close up and scab over. How long depends on how large and deep it is.

I'm amazed at how fast chickens start the healing process. When first noticed I packed the wound with neosporin and waited for help in accessing her condition. We found our supply's were inadequate and went to purchase supplies. We collected her and sprayed antibacterial/antifungal on the wound and decided to access the damages and see what was the best course of action. She had started to scan over and looked much better so we determined that she was going to get isolated and sprayed with antibiotics/antifungal 4 times a day and see how it looks on Sunday to turn her out of isolation. She will not go in with the BIG GIRLS just her 4 little sisters.
