operating system advice needed

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of Windows Vista vs XP? Is XP worth the extra $100?

I hate Vista! Too many problems in my opinion! XP works way better for me... Hope this helps!

From what I understand Microsoft will support XP until 2011. I personally prefer XP, never using Vista but hearing the horror stories, mostly conflicts with other apps. Here's what Wiki Says:

Get Ubuntu and OpenOffice.

Both free and work much better than windows.



But, if you must have windows, get XP. Vista stinks.

My son is a comp. tech and he HATES vista......he installed Ubuntu on my puter and works good..no complaints.....again....HATES VISTA this is him..... Vista????

Bollocks! Feller is finishing up his PhD in computing science and this is the ONLY operating system he will use.


Sounds to me like IT guy is pushing MS for a reason.

It is because it is what he believes is the best functioning and most useful. He doesn't work for MS.
