opinion about sex link chickens

i am wondering if people think that cross breeding two chickens to get a better layer is like the overbreeding problem that occurs in dogs. I have not thought about getting them before now and I'm just wanting to hear from people more knowledgeable about them. I basically know nothing.

Overbreeding problems in animals occur when you don't bring fresh dna into the pool. As long as you aren't inbreeding there shouldn't be a problem.

I just put some sex link eggs in the incubator. Welsummer roo over barred rock hens.

I am hoping for a good hatch and planning on eating the boys and keeping the girls for eggs
