Opinion on Farm Tractors

On our third Kubota now. Each one has been a great tractor. We trade about
every three years for tax purpose. Thed held their resale value for us. Sold outright,
no trade ins. Keep it washed, waxed.

Not a real farmer, we have turf tires on the current tractor. Still 4 wheel drive.
Just not the best thing in deep mud.

Last one had the front end bucket. Awesome power, but don't forget to load the
tires.

5" 9", I'm not a great big size, but my Kubota fits me well. Hydrostat transmission, even
my wife and daughter can safely operate it.

Kubota did have the zero down-zero interest. They still have it?

My earlier tractors were of the tricylce front ends...no more of that. For my money,
the wide front end and the 4-wheel drive braking system are the only way to go.

Put your money in GOOD attachments.

The hog that came with my Kubota lasted just a few hours. Built WITHOUT use of a
shearpin. Self destructed as far as I cared.

But a good tractor for the money.

I have to disagree about some of the comments about JDs. Other than a 1960 something Massey Ferguson 65 that we pull the silage cart with and an old 930 case that we pack the silage with, all we have are JDs for field work. They may be more highly priced than some tractors but they also hold their resale value very well, which can't be said for some others. Parts are readily available for them.

Is it rude of me to ask how MUCH$ these cost?

Not rude to ask. But not exactly easy to answer.

Depends on different things. Location is a big issue. Dealership volume.
Straight out or trade in, cash or payments.

How well you bargain.

Depends.

I've seen a price difference of a few thousand dollars on the exact same
new cars within a 1000 mile range.

For example my local dealer had a tractor I was interested in. Gave me a price
I felt was on the high side. Seventy miles past my home (two dealerships away)
I bought the exact tractor for $2800.00 less than the orignal dealers quoted price.

Shop well.

No, I won't knock on a John Deere. Excellent tractors, far as I know. But on the pricy
side. Same with the old Ford N's. Excellent little tractors if you stay within their range.

Buy equipment to do the job you intend to do. As in if you want to cut down a tree,
don't use a kitchen knife. Get the chainsaw.

Now I'm jealous....looking at the new Kubota pictures, they have cup holders. I want
a cupholder on mine !

We just bought a new Kubota 2 weeks ago. It's a 8540 4WD with front loader heated and a/c in cab. This is the third Kubota we've had and keep trading up to a bigger one but we've never had a problem with any of them and just LOVE them! I think they are well built and well laid out. We've tried JD, Case and had a MF. I'll stick with Kubota.

Got me a Kubota L3400 HST w/FEL quick attach bucket, 5' bushhog brand rotary cutter.

Delivered Friday morning, used the FEL, tried all the switches, and levers all okay.

Much bigger than my previous machine, that is going to take some getting used to, but so far I have not knocked down or run over anything.

You can see in the background of this picture the pile of clay fill that I have moved. 28 yards 2hrs to move it, could have been quicker but being a rookie on the FEL about 50% of my circuits were with less than full load.

Hey All,

Just my two cents worth. I, too, have a Massey and have been extremely satisfied with it. But I do have to disagree with the idea of John Deere being "overpriced" for the name and paint. My son-in-law just purchased one and it is a fine tractor. I always thought that you paid for the name but now I have to agree they are some great machines.

i dont thnk anyone is sayin they arent good machines, they are, but you will pay double for a john deere of 40 hp, compared to an allis, or a ford or a massey, and parts not over priced, i guy i work with just paid $40.00 for a thermostate, for a 40T, come on now how can someone say thats not overpriced, 40.00 for a 5.00 part
i aint tryin to say there bads but they are considerbly higher

I have a hobby koi farm in Florida. The wife would not authorize a tractor purchase, So I bought this. It saves me a lot of manual labor in the Florida heat and humidity. It holds 300 pounds of sand and no big investment. I have been using it for about four months now.
