This little chick is about 8-9 weeks old. I think hen, but I'm not 100% because she's rather leggy. What's your educated guess? Oh yeah, she's a barnyard beauty cross between an American Game roo and a Australorp.

We are really hoping so. We have a great rooster already and would have to either sell or eat him is it's another one. My kids are waiting to name her if it's a hen!

If you could get a closeup shot of feather detail on saddle and neck and also comb and wattles, it would be more helpful. Take it in full light, not in shade or at dusk as it appears these were taken.

But going strictly by silhouette, you appear to have a pullet.

One of my cockerels (young rooster) is 2 1/2 months old and his tail feathers look like a hens so you can't always use that method to tell you chicks gender. A larger comb, larger spurs, and long, shiny neck and saddle feathers are also good ways of guessing the gender of your chick. All or none of these signs may be present depending on the breed. Often a hen will end up looking similar to her male parent and rooster will look like his female parent so that also is a way of figuring out your chicks gender.

Personally I think its a pullet though. So you don't have to wast your time sharpening your ax!

I hope this information was helpful!
