Just remember, your "Araucanas" will turn out mutt-Easter Egger chickens and not real Araucanas nor Ameraucanas, no matter what anyone tells ya.

McMurray is okay, like any other large hatchery. Their Easter Eggers though I'd steer clear of and choose a different hatchery, as they often have odd issues like curled toes, curved backbones, poor egg laying, and a higher ratio of brown layers vs green layers.

Their Polish are okay, but the laced ones died on me.

X2

Here is what an Araucana should look like so you will know the difference.

Notice the funny feathers that stick way out and the fact that they don't have a beard or fuzzy cheeks.

Your EE's will lay lots of eggs and typically be friendly, so enjoy them.

McMurry has a video under their Araucana heading that says it shows tufts on the chicks. What they are actually showing are muffs, which is fuzzy cheeks like the bird pictured below, who is my own EE, that I hatched. Your Ee's wont have the crest.

Tufts are what is pictured on my birds in the previous post.

I got my first order from McMurray in April of 2008. Of the 26 chicks, 11 died within the first two days.

I called and they didn't care. Apparently they had a bout of dead chicks due to an infectious problem back then.

The Production Reds I got from them were beautiful, but couldn't handle the heat here and died.

The Barred Rocks I got were great layers, but I called them all She Devil's because of their temperament.

I think I may eventually order from them again, just to see how they do with rare breeds.
