Opinions on Meyer Hatchery?

Would you mind explaining what you mean by this? I feel its good to know both the pros and cons.

Is overly social a bad thing? My first flock will be pets only since I am just beginning and actually avoided MPC in the first place because I heard their EEs are rather flighty and anti-social.

Meyers seems to be edging towards my pet chickens practices. I notice a number of their chicks took precipitous price increases this year, which if you bother to look, matches the price increases MPC did. Could be due to these breeds being truly rare... or... far more likely... they are trying to cash in on chicken fads. I suppose we will see and know for sure if some of MPC "Designer" chicken breeds begin to surface at Meyers.

As far as the not-overly-social part... I mean in that they don't seem nearly as willing to interact with me as some of the others. That could be individual birds, though - I have a pair of barred rocks from them that are polar opposites - one likes to be fussed over, and be interacted with, the other wants nothing to do with me.

Hm, so if I'm interpreting what you're saying correctly, the Meyer strain of EEs still seems to be not the most cuddly birds?

Someone else will have to chime in here. No EE I have ever owned has been overly friendly, so I am not sure saying theirs are any less friendly is a fair assessment. I always figured it had to do with the highly mixed parentage some of the EEs can have.

Alright, that's fair.

Meyer Hatchery has a chat option where you can ask questions from real people, not bots, to answer questions about breeds, availability and more. Feel free to chat with them about any questions you may have. I just ordered 25 of the rare assorted breeds from Meyer and I look forward to seeing what I end up getting. My fingers are crossed for a Cream Legbar or two. They lay pretty blue eggs.

I agree with you there. Mine, regardless of the source, have always been a little flighty. I have one currently that is getting close to 4 years old, and it has only been this year that she seems to have settled down. It must be her older age :)
