Opinions regarding cedar bedding for chicks

I have my new chicks in cedar bedding but have since read that the cedar can upset their lungs and cause problems with breathing later on. The person at our grange where the chicks came from said she has had no problems and I have historically raised my chicks in cedar with no problems (so far...). Is pine bedding better? Any opinions? Thanks.

It is the oil and the oily dusty that makes cedar smell so good that makes it a less desirable option. Really no animals should be raised in cedar, I had it kill my pet rat when I was a teenager and that is when I found out about it!

I'd never use it for my chickens, but it is what my dogs sleep in.
