Opossum Necropsy - Graphic

I Remember going to “the vets” for work experience.
We learned about how people with pet cats have worms in their body’s, “when you have a pet cat that goes outside, it will usually lay in the grass for some part of the day (grass carries worm eggs) the owner then pets the cat and often forgets to wash their hands, then the owner eats food (when touching the food the worm eggs transfer to the food) and in pops the worm eggs, in a couple of days they will hatch and spread through the owners body. https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/10-scary-diseases-pets-give-people/8/
It's sad, sad humans who don't touch the grass on their own. Why blame the pets?

Every possum we have ever trapped ( and there has been a number of them) had a ton of worms. These can be harmful to your hens if they eat them out of the possum poop!
Do you know which worms are harmful to poultry?

Not all, but I did research the worms in the possum poo and though I cannot tell you what all they were, was warned that they could be harmful to hens, better safe than sorry. The only worms my hens eat are ones we dig out of the ground. I would not knowingly let my girls eat worms from any animal's intestines. IMHO!
