Optimal coop for 2 Orpingtons?

argh, sorry i haven't responded. i don't know how to set up email alerts in this forum. since i last talked to yall, i decided to go with bantam orps to better fit my size constraints.

i have actually come upon and purchased a Ware hutch like this: http://www.waremfginc.com/ShowAltImage.ashx?id=01519. it was such a good deal, i couldn't pass it up. i'm going to build a covered run coming off the right side, for a combined run size of 5 feet by 30 inches. upon closer inspection, i saw that the trees over that corner of the yard provide quite a bit of shade. also, the fence that the coop will be backed up to is covered in ivy and makes the corner fairly cool. i think it's going to work out!

EDIT: this actually brings another question to mind. there is english ivy on the ground where i intend to put the coop. i had planned on just covering the area with large wood chips or maybe sand. what's the best substance that will cover the ivy so the chickens can't get to it, and be most conducive to cleaning?
