Options for creating Sex-Linked Silkies?

Not exactly sure where I am going to take my silkie breeding projects just yet- so I am researching and exploring my options.

Can someone help me with tacking down what the options are as far creating sex linked silkies?

I know I had read that there is a way to do a dark skin/light skin sex linked hatch? What would be my options with that?

What about feather color sex links? Options?

Is there any other ways to do sex linkage that I'm not aware of?

I currently am pondering projects with silkies, bantam Cochins, bantam Ameraucana's, Houdans, and Easter egger/olive eggers.

The silkies I'm mainly considering working on a satin millefleur, the Cochins- chocolate mottled lavender mottled, and maybe a chocolate/silver MF - the Ameraucana's and Easter eggers I plan to do a ermine/paint project and lavender, and have toyed with the idea of creating an Easter egger that has a crest like a houdan but muffs and beard as well.... Anyways......

For the sex linkage I would like a way to do that and keep the silkies pure but will consider options that could possibly work for my other hybrid projects as well.

Would love to hear about others experiences with doing sex linkage with their own silkies and how they worked out

I breed silkies and it just so happens they are sex-linked due to the colors I chose, but I don't advertise it as I'd sell all the pullets and be stuck with all of the roosters.

@Debbie292d if you have no feelings towards the roosters then you could be onto a winner there, the farmers here are making decent money selling Silkies to the Chinese restaurant's and most back yarders are after hens.

From my understanding you could do a normal partridge rooster over Silver partridge hens and that would be sexlinked. Young cockerels would be "golden" and pullets normal partridge.

I really enjoy partridge hens. But I especially like white, chocolate, mauve, blacks, and paints. Wondering if I could possibly do a sexlink using chocolate and mauve? I think if I use a chocolate male to non chocolate female (maybe black?) or white? Not sure what all colors would work as the non chocolate - that I would get a sex linked hatch with all the pullets being chocolate and the males being the non chocolate color?

I know silkie meat is an Asian delicacy. I know when giving them away, that could be where they are going.

I went and looked at that post but my brain works in a different way and I'm having trouble comprehending exactly which colors and crosses would result in sex links and what sexs/colors they would be for each cross. I'm a visual learner and I have ADD so having trouble with sorting out the crosses and how they work. Thanks for the link though...maybe after a few times of reading it I will comprehend it better

I don't have ADD that I know of, and it was too much for me, so I copied/pasted ONLY the colors of chickens I own, and pasted them in OneNote.

This is what mine looks like, much simpler. Maybe try that. Just copy the ones for the ones you have somewhere. If you get more, go back and look again.

The first one listed is rooster, followed by the hen.

Chocolate x Splash = Mauve pullets and Blue split Chocolate cockerels
Chocolate x Black = Chocolate pullets and Black split to Chocolate cockerels

Mauve x Chocolate* = Mauve and Chocolate - straight run.
Mauve x Splash* = Mauve & Choco Splash pullets, Blue & Splash split Chocolate cockerels
Mauve male x Black female: 25% Blue males carrying chocolate, 25% Black males carrying chocolate, 25% Mauve females, 25% Chocolate females

Blue x Chocolate = Blue and Black pullets, Blue and Black cockerels split Chocolate
Blue x Splash = 50% Splash, 50% Blue. Another site says 25% blue 75% splash.

I'm in Victoria and all the good Chinese restaurants in my area have them hanging in their window next to the peking ducks.
