Options for egg bound bantam pullet

That is such a sweet photo! It's obvious this chicken is very much loved.

The egg is a surprise. The egg chute intersects with the cloaca, coming off from the side. The poop chute comes straight down from the gizzard and shuts off as the egg gets ready to come out.

Don't get discouraged. We don't know what's going on, and even though those blood clots are worrisome, it may resolve. This is why you should continue the treatment you've begun.

Has the patient passed any cecal yet? If the blood clots were blocking her works, now that she's expelled them, the crop may drain tonight on its own. There's a good chance it will be empty or nearly so by morning.

Do you have Poultry Nutri-drench? If you do, give her some. I suggest you feed her raw liver or raw hamburger to replenish her blood. She needs lots of fluids, as well.

The egg chute/poop chute has made me laugh and this is the first time today. Thank you for that wonderfully amazing explanation! I really needed that. Thank you so much.
No other droppings at all. I'm not sure if you could see but I didn't get much oil into her vent. I wonder if I should add more?

I did get calcium citrate with D3 tablets. The vit D3 is 12.5 mcg (500 IU) & calcium (as calcium citrate) is 630 mg. How much of this should she get?
When do you suggest I start treatment with the Miconazole, if her crop doesn't resolve on it's own? I picked up the 7 day treatment in this as well.
I actually have raw hamburger that I planned on cooking tonight, but it's still in the fridge. Should I try to get her to eat some tonight or wait until morning? I also have nutri drench and I'll give her some tonight and add some to her water.
I'm not sure what caused her to stop the puffing herself up, but she would blow out all of her feathers and sit there looking huge. I am happy she's not doing that anymore, because she seemed extremely uncomfortable. Now she just acts tired.
I can't thank you and Wyorp enough for all of the help. I am grateful for you both.

Does it look yellowish? The other droppings from the rest of the morning got more yellow.
Should I be doing the oil in her vent? I didn't put much in earlier.
She's not puffed up like she was earlier but her crop is still full of water.
Laid sometime this late afternoon/early evening. I was surprised to see it and even more surprised it's not bloody.

The egg looks great!

Since she's so tiny, I would give her 1/2 tablet of the Calcium tablet for 2 days. You already gave Calcium once - so that would be a total of 3 days.

Get a good look at the overnight droppings (take photos LOL) and check her crop first thing before she eats/drinks.
As mentioned, the crop issue may resolve by morning if the egg was the cause of blocking the digestive system.

The puffing up sounds like broodiness LOL How long has she been eating layer feed?

Should I remove the water from her crate for tonight, so I can check her crop in the morning? Since she laid her egg, I can probably remove the shavings from her crate and use puppy pads so I have a clear view of her droppings. @azygous mentioned giving her raw hamburger. Should I start this in the morning or offer it tonight? She's been tired acting but doesn't seem to be in pain, like earlier. I thought that was why she was puffed up. She's on Purina Flock Raiser feed and oyster shell on the side. She's probably laid a total of 11 eggs, I believe and that's probably a generous estimate

I just thought about something. I collected an egg out of the bantam girls nesting box yesterday. There was a small smear of what looked like blood on the egg. I didn't see Raymona in the nesting box at all that day, so I figured I had another one starting to lay, because I did see one in the nesting box that hasn't been in there before, that I know of. Don't they usually fiddle around in the nesting box in preparation for laying to come? Raymona acted wierd the day she started to lay so I knew it was her then and later confirmed with a butt check. Maybe the egg from yesterday (which is a little bit larger than her usual tiny egg) hurt her somehow. There were no eggs in the bantam girls nesting box today. The pullet that I thought laid this egg yesterday hasn't been acting any different at all yesterday or today. What do you think @Wyorp Rock @azygous

Interesting. This is starting to have an Agatha Christie flavor to it, a real mystery.

What I'm hoping, maybe it has something to do with a minor internal injury, and now she's on the mend.

I have a feeling Raymona is going to come out of this okay. It's important to continue the amoxicillin for the full ten days. If she has an internal injury, it could be colonized by bacteria, so the antibiotic will definitely save her life.

Raymona egg from Day 201, blood smeared egg from yesterday, Raymona egg from Day 203. Just wanted to show the size difference, which seems like a significant difference for a small newly laying pullet. The bloom looks different too

Hard to know if the one with the blood on it is from her or the other new layer - it's not unusual for one to have a smear when first laying. But the blood clots are another story.

As for the water being removed. Yes, I would take it out (and food too) if she's going to be in the dark for the night, that way you know for sure when you check the crop in the morning.
