I inherited my moms 18 yo pot bellied pig after she died a year ago.
He has a bi-lateral tusk infection that will require lifelong antibiotics.
Several of our hens will eat out of his bowl while he’s eating.
Lately, the girls have seemed to feel less than great. A couple have had runny noses and sneezing. A couple just seemed quiet and depressed. A couple are sneezing only.
The roosters are fine and they don’t eat from his bowl.
I posted a week ago or so about how I had put down too much Diatomaceous earth In their coop and how they were sneezing, had watery/irritated eyes and they also seemed to be wheezing.
Do you all think this could be the pigs oral bacteria (he has since been put on Clindamycin twice daily, and the girls are not allowed to eat with him) Maybe his food in general? The DE? Or something else? I’m so worried that they have some horrible, deadly virus.
Also, are there any good poultry vets in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area?
