Orange chicken bought from hackery LOOKS LIKE ROOSTER??

Def a rooster...other signs beside the saddle feathers are the darker patches of red coming in along the wings...if you look closely at those feathers and the ones on his back you will see that they are very shiny and more "toothy" than normal feathery feathers

it's just a "rooster" feathered hen, meaning it has charateristics that resemble a rooster. this is not uncommom, and as there is rooster feathered hens, there is also hen feathered roosters. we have a rooster feathered hen, and like you we at first thought we might have gotten a rooster by acidnt, she has proven herself with a speckled egg every day.

Hen Feathered Rooster carry the Henny Feathering Gene (Hf), the gene affects the estrogen of the male bird. To my knowledge the is no gene that affects the female feathering to make them look male.
If you have information on this gene please post, also if you could post a picture of your, "Rooster Feathered Hen" I would like to see it.
