I have three barred rocks - 5 weeks old - in a small coop. The coop was a kit that I purchased online. Super easy to assemble and easy acess to clean, collect eggs etc. but it won't be large enough for three hens. Also it doesn't have a perch. Any ideas?

I would like to let my three hens free range during the day in my backyard but am worried they will fly to the top of the block wall fence and go into the neighbors yard. Are the able to fly that high? Can I trim their wings like a ducks?

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of chicks did you buy?

I am in Santa Ana. I have one barred rock (I sold two to a young family in Laguna Niguel) as my coop was too small. I M looking for a buff orphington to keep her company. I may want to join your group sometime. Let me know details.

the small meetup event I am having is at my house, and is advertised on the Los Angeles Urban Chicken enthusiasts Meetup as an event in Orange County. If you have a problem finding it, I can email you. There is a woman wanting to organize a non-profit for educating about hens in OC, and a feed store having an OC educational event the same month, so I did not start a separate OC meetup (but perhaps others may wish to do so). The event is Feb. 1, Sunday, 10 Am, no speaker except to offer people an opportunity to share ideas (and I wrote up four pages about raising hens specifically in OC, which I can send and is under "more" then Files" on the LA meetup site - the old copy is on Backyard Chickens).
