Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

That is so funny-I had a guinea named Dodger! I miss those goonie birds. That is such a handsome cat. I love gray cats.

This was a stray that came around for a year before I started putting food out for him. Never got close enough to know if it was male or female, so I called him/her Ghost because he vanished if I looked at him too closely. I fed him for two years before it became clear that something was after him. Eventually, he never came back.

And later, this black cat started making his rounds. I called him Smudge. When pregnant Mrs. Smudge showed up with him, DH stopped encouraging him to stay by stopping the periodic feeding.

Then, for a long time, saw no cats at all here. One morning, caught a glimpse of an orange and white Maine Coon who had been reared up looking in the main coop window, just as a propped up screen fell, causing him to sprint off before I could get a good look at him. After that, no cats except maybe one or two single sightings until Finn showed up. I think the coyotes and foxes have decimated the stray population.

How in the world could you tell your guineas apart? I started with 8 and the darn things have spent their entire lives actively trying new ways to die. I am down to two now and they seem a little smarter than the others. At least this lot goes back into the pens at night. We have coyotes and other assorted predators around here and anybody outside the pen walls is fair game. All eight were identical though. I can't even tell who is male and who is female. Mine are the polka dotty ones. Pretty, but crazy.

Dodger the cat is now an indoor/outdoor kitty. He goes out during the day to play and be a Mighty Hunter and then comes back in at night to sleep in comfort. The other barn kitty Fagin lives inside full time now. He got hit by a car and it scared me, so I moved them both inside. Fagin is VERY content to lay about the house. Dodger, living up to his name, gets dodgey when he doesn't have time outside to explore. Since he is trustworthy to stay away from the road, he gets to go out and play. I do love having a kitty to help me with chicken chores. :)

I only had four, two lavender males, a lavender hen and one big pearl gray hen. So, it wasn't too hard. Dodger was the one who caused all the problems and made me have to rehome the Fearsome Foursome. Mine were tame, per DH's efforts. He tames everything around here.

Way to go on the sale to the nice feed store lady! If I ever get enough extra $ together, I'm coming to visit your webpage (don't take this to mean you're prices are high because they are not, take it to mean I'm broke).

Good stories from you and CityGirlintheCountry, thanks for sharing!

We sure appreciate that!

When Finn kept insisting on going back to a certain pile of leaves rather than eat his supper, I went to see what was up. A mouse was up, poor tortured mouse. I think he'd already hurt it because it certainly wasn't running away from him successfully, but this one was making sounds just like his play mouse he loves inside and was about the same size, too. So, here are some videos of Finn's mousing methods. Trust me, there is no blood in them (as there should have been

And yes, I am as stuffy as I sound today. Blech.

HEHEHE. Theo kills them if more than one he stuns one...kills one and then takes the stunned one to a place in the yard and waits for it to wake up and then the torturing begins. Hahahaha

Poor thing was staggering and going toward its torturer. He never did kill the thing so DH took it and threw it over the fence onto the power line easement. It will probably die out there somewhere or at least be killed swiftly by something that really wants to eat. Finn is now sound asleep in his cat condo, exhausted from all his mousecapades.

I have just finished reading the whole thread and I have to subscribe because I am now a Finn-Fan! He is such a sweetheart!

We are cat lovers and have two indoor cats who also have their own little cat play house outside where they can safely get fresh air and sunshine without being a threat to the local wildlife or becoming road kill.

I had my male cat, Syba, before I met my now hubby .. when hubby came on the scene Syba dumped me like the proverbial and is now hubby's cat!

I just love how Finn has wrapped your cat hater around his little paw

Kudos to you both for giving Finn such a loving home!

Welcome to Finn-Mania! I see you hail from the only country outside this one I ever wanted to visit. Glad you joined us. I didn't realize this would become a thread about my cat, just a cat I wanted to find the owner of or find a home for. Finn had other plans.

He's a really great cat. And I personally think he's super handsome. Part of that may be that he wasn't neutered until he was over a year old so he developed that big round tomcat head, which I think adds to his charm. I understand that if he had been neutered as a youngster, he wouldn't have developed the face fullness at the lower jaw area? Anyway, he's a sweetie and DH really likes him. He asks to go out just like any dog would. If we don't see him sitting next to the door, he meows loudly. DH is all impressed with that, never knew a cat would do that, so his more dog-like qualities are probably what has won my hubby over more than anything else.

If it had been our idea to get a cat, he'd be indoors more. As it is, after the complete house renovation, which removed all traces of dog hair remaining after our old dogs passed on, we just did not want the hair factor to become an issue again. He does spend quite a lot of time inside, though, more than I intended. I've watched him stalk birds and squirrels, but he doesn't seem to catch anything. This is the first time I've seen him actually sort of catch one. And he didn't even really kill this mouse, though that is one reason I don't mind having a cat around, for rodent control. If this is how he does them all, he won't be much use in that department, except maybe to put the fear of Finn in them and stay away from his general area.
