Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

Pics
Finn came home without his collar awhile ago. Thankfully, it was a breakaway flea collar and easily replaced, that is, when we can get to the store. We got about 1/2" of snow overnight, but it's pretty slippery up in here until you get to the main roads so we may not go anywhere until later or even tomorrow. I bet he caught it on something in one of the piles of limbs that our land clearing guy has out there. He loves to go mess around the equipment and those piles. He was really, really hungry so I think all the mice are snug in their little tunnels today.

This cat has to be eating something elsewhere. I certainly don't feed him enough to develop this gut he's getting! DH followed his tracks in the snow down the driveway and across the road to crazy lady's house where she has relatives living in multiple sheds. There are cats there in a chickenwire pen under a freestanding tower/treehouse thing and I think he's visiting those, but unless they get out to eat, he can't be eating their food. I wonder, though, if they are putting something out. Either that or he's really eating a lot of mice!

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this orange tabby from the swift completion of his appointed rounds.
We shall forever more dub him "Post Office"

Love the video and the pics of Finn's belly! Nothing like a big ole cat belly.

You are probably right about him eating elsewhere as Finn's twin, Roux does the same thing. Last summer when I was walking down the street behind our house the man who lives directly behind us stopped me and asked if I knew who the big Orange Tabby belongs to and before I could answer him he said,"We let him in every morning to feed him but it looks like he belongs to someone because he is so healthy." And of course my reaction was, "Stop my letting my cat in your house." Since Roux is as big as ever I am sure that he still gets a breakfast over there and who knows where else??? All part of having a friendly cat.

Geez, if he's eating like that somewhere else, no wonder he's getting to be a chubby cat. And you can't not feed the guy, just in case he didn't catch his daily mouse or his non-owner decides not to feed him today. Plus, he comes in and sits at the bowl and tells you he's hungry, then goes to the closet where he knows the food stays and meows. He's all about the munchies. He gets two meals a day and that's it. Mostly, he gets a handful or two of the Cat Naturals dry food and every couple of days, he might get some canned stuff mixed in.

Just a thought, with all those mice he eats, he may have worms, which could cause the enlarged belly, if he has a heavy infestation. You can usually take a stool sample in to the vet to test for minimum cost.

I'd have to follow him around. He doesn't use a litter box so I have no idea where he poops. And in the snow, no way. So, not sure I can do anything now. Hopefully, he's just eating too much or being just a great hunter.
