Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

Pics
I told Angela in a PM already, but Finn left a young rabbit at the bottom of the stairs tonight, minus most of its head. Sheesh. Last week, it was half a mouse, the front half. It was sitting upright like it had just sat down and fallen asleep, but was gone from the mid-back downward.

Just a couple days before that, he left a shrew laying in the yard, completely intact. I noticed Rowena, while on range and walking around in front of the main coop, picking something fairly large up and she dropped it, picked it up again, then dropped it and left it, apparently disgusted by the taste. When I went to see what the heck it was, it was just a little shrew, not a mark on it, like it had been frightened to death. But I'm sure it was Finn's doing.

Finn has not been eating as much cat food lately. Now, I know why.

I once had a big black cat that would catch baby rabbits and eat them whole, starting at the back end and then leave the ears hanging out of his mouth! and walk around with the ears hanging out for awhile - disgusting!

He hunts all night and sleeps most all day now. Yesterday, the guy cleaning up our extra lot was moving a pile of wood and unearthed a family of possums, mama and about five good size babies. So, I bet Finn was having a jolly old night last night. He didn't even want in until 7 a.m. I just went outside and found him asleep on the deck right in the middle of the steps. Walk five steps, yawn, fall over. What a life!

Finn Story Alert!

This morning, before the sun was up, I was laying in bed, half awake, about 6:45 a.m., half cognizant of the wild birds chorus outside, when I hear a scritching noise above my head. Our headboard now is against a window since we switched the craft room/office with the master bedroom. So, this noise happens, then I hear a quiet "meow". I crane my neck up and what do I see through the screen? About 3/4 of an orange striped face looking in at me. That bad cat knows where we sleep and knew exactly how to wake me up. So, needless to say, I was up a little before my usual time because of Finn. He'd better not make that a habit all summer.

He spends almost no time at all inside now that the weather is warm. He does come in and out about 20x /day, though.

I'm still laughing when I think of "The cat wants in!!" story.
