Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

You are probably right about Xander. The same thing happened when I took Peanut out for some fresh air the day before she passed. She laid down in the grass to watch everyone and before I knew it Little Man was on her. In his little bantam teenage rooster mind she was just laying there for him to mount her.

My heart aches for you regarding Nugget. I just hope that Rex and Serena come to get her soon before she gets too much worse.
I hope so, too. She's a sweetheart. Love my Nuggs.

Oh gosh that is a terrifying thing to hear just went through it with Theo and Angel against orange tabby a few weeks back if you remember. Makes you sit straight upin bed.

I'm sure Finn is okay....he'll be sore probably. Poor boy..good kitty though.
Finn is quite the scrapper. That gray tabby wanted OUTTA here! Tom said he was much smaller than Finn, probably younger. Guess it must have been a male cat? Or would he have fought that hard with a female?

I'm dragging. Went back to bed at 6 a.m. but never could go back to sleep. I'll be crashing by 8 p.m., I bet. And I have lots of quilt work to do, which, by its nature, might put me to sleep in the middle of the day anyway.

When I was little, we had a male & a female cat that totally hated each other and fought - in the house - just like that. Total chaos!

Your "interloper" remark brought back memories. At my wedding (umpteen million years ago - 44 to be exact) we held the reception outside in my parents lovely country back yard. Right in the middle of it, a tiny grey and white kitten showed up - we had no idea from where - and just made himself at home among the guests. Late in the evening he came in the house and that was it - he stayed for the rest of his long life. The day of the wedding we called him "that interloper" and the name stuck - he was Interloper, "Inter" for short, forever. He was a great cat!

All of the cat fights I have broken up have been between two males. In my experience the opponent was always a male that was not neutered straying into Roux's territory. The ones who are neutered just get a warning and they leave but it seems he always has to fight the ones who still have their equipment.

Wow speckledhen definitely not a good start to the day.

I hope Finn is OK and as you mention, just overdosed on adrenaline. Keep an eye out for an abscess over the next couple of days.

Back before I made a decision to keep my cats indoors, I had a ginger Tom who, even though he was fixed up, had a tendency to get into fights. A couple of days after the fights, if he had been bitten or scratched (which I could not see), he would form an abscess; he and the Vet were definitely on a first name basis

I am sorry to read that Nugget is not doing well

I have a ‘Dusty’ also; actually turns out that she was appropriately named and her nickname is Dust-bin because she is a garbage guts!

Thank you Peanutsmomma
Chimee was the runt of a litter and was sort of a rescue because she was the last one left and if a home could not be found for her she was going to be put down

She is tiny, at 4 years old she only weighs 3 Kilograms (6.6 Pounds) while her 6 year old ‘brother' weighs 7 Kilograms (15 Pounds).

Robhuncor your ‘Inter’ story is so sweet; once again the feline adopts the humans

We will certainly do that, thank you for the heads up. I have not seen one scratch on him so far, but he's been sleeping in his crocheted bed most of the late afternoon. If he comes in for a bit, maybe we can check him out closer. Could be the interloper got the worst of it.

That is good advice from Telia to look for an abscess. One time Roux had one a few days after a fight. I took him to the vet and told her that he was running a temp and that he had a fight a few days prior. She immediately began to examine the area around the base of his tail and his hindquarters and sure enough he had a nasty bite at the base of tail. She gave him a penicillin shot and he was pretty much back to normal the next day. While she was examining him she said that when cats fight they tend to zero in on the tail/hindquarter area.

I appreciate the tip. I checked him out and don't see a bite and he doesn't react like he's sore anywhere along his back. Maybe he didn't get bitten this time. He sure outweighed the other cat and he was apparently fierce in defending his territory. I never would have figured he'd go up a tree that high after another cat even if the other cat went up there to escape. It's been many years since I owned a cat, though, not since I was a teenager, so I really don't remember much about them.
