Sorry speckledhen I probably could have given more details.

If they are having crop issues, apparently the softness of the sardines does not add to the issues and the generous coating of oil helps to move things along.

Some sardines in oil and a gentle crop massage after was definitely helpful on the two occasions I have had gals with crop issues.

It is funny how much what our gals like to eat differs … mine would not touch a blueberry; I have a friend whose chickens love grapes and the chicks have fun playing ‘grape football’, again mine were not the slightest bit interested.

Sending heaps of get well soon vibes in Nugget’s direction.

The oil made sense, but couldnt figure about the sardines, but I see that they would be soft and full of protein, easy to massage through. Thank you for the clarification, Teila. Nugget would not touch the eggs with yogurt we gave her today but she's been playing with the berries and probably getting some juice down, at least giving her some moisture. I really think this is the end for her, just hate that she might be hungry because of a stoppage, no matter what the cause is.

@speckledhen , I'm sorry to hear your Nugget is having a rough time. It's so hard to watch the animals we care about ailing. Prayers for you and her both

Thank you, Debby. She is such a lovely hen, have enjoyed having her all these years, watching her raise babies. When she was little, she was so fluffy, she looked like a little girl wearing her big sister's clothes. Will never forget that picture I have of her.

Just let Finn back outside for the night, so I'm hitting the sack myself. I was so drained today for some reason that I had a two hour nap in the afternoon. I did get quite a bit of hand quilting done on the border of my queen size quilt and I machine quilted almost half of my bed runner with my roosters on it. So, as I leave you for the night, here's a sneak peek of the runner in progress. I'm so new to machine quilting but I think I'm doing much better and it's so fast. Goodnight, friends.

Good for Big Ida! Every time you mention her I see one of those female Russian weight lifters. I don't know why, it is not like her name is Big Olga. LOL!! I was just walking back from the coop and passed Roux taking his morning nap. I am guessing Finn is doing the same right now.

This made me do a double-take--my oldest niece has a marmalade cat named Roux! Tell me, did you attend LSU (Geaux Tigers!) and does Roux have extra toes, too?

I once had a big black cat that would catch baby rabbits and eat them whole, starting at the back end and then leave the ears hanging out of his mouth!  and walk around with the ears hanging out for awhile - disgusting!

Finn is quite the scrapper. That gray tabby wanted OUTTA here! Tom said he was much smaller than Finn, probably younger. Guess it must have been a male cat? Or would he have fought that hard with a female?

It sounds like a tomcat to me.
