Order chicks. I should had asked questions.

I will go to PO today and talk to them.

Or telephone? It's possible to find the telephone number for your particular post office, looking online. It's often faster to telephone than to actual go there. Also, I don't know about where you are, but my area's still on lockdown (COVID-19), so I've been having to think of ways to do things without going places.

White Leghorns. I have everything set up. Heater lamp is on a temperature controller. I will go to PO today and talk to them.
Mine showed up two days earlier than the expected arrival date so don't give up hope! Make sure you have some electrolytes ready to put in their water and I agree with others, call your post office and touch base with them! When I called my USPS they were so friendly and helpful. They were empathetic with my concerns and called me the second they arrived saying "They are in here peeping away!"

A funny thing that happened to me once: I came home from the post office, settled my chicks in the brooder, and then got a phone call telling me to come pick up chicks. I said I'd just picked them up, but they insisted it was a box for me. So I drove back to the post office, and there they were! They were from a different hatchery, and I was expecting them the next day, but instead they'd come on the second truck of that day's mail. :lau

Good news! I received a call today from PO. Dropped every thing I was doing and went got the chicks. All were alive and what I can tell well. I did have their version of Gatorade waiting for them. I dipped their beaks in for a drink. I waited a good hour and just added the food. They are eating. I am on temperature control on the lamp set at 95 off and 90 on. They are being kept in a detached fully enclose garage. The box is made out of plywood with a screened top.Layer of newspaper with 2 to 3 " of pine shavings. The only thing I need to do is make some small perches for them which I will do today. I have 10 chicks but plan only to keep 6. I have a friend who has chickens so I plan on giving him my extras so he can try out the Leghorns edit to add so much for how the tracking works but I should not complain.

I'm glad to hear this! My chicks just shipped today (Tuesday) and estimated arrival is Monday... way too long for chicks but praying for the best outcome.
