Ordered 9 pullets but got 15

Picked up my peeping chicks today from the post office. I ordered from Ideal 9 pullets, was told that they might add males for warmth. They added 6 males. Not sure what they are, mostly all yellow. Any guesses? I quess I will have to keep one or two roosters and give away the other boys when they get older. Everyone is eating and drinking , so far so good. Very Cute.

I ordered from Ideal 3 different times and each time all my extras were always Rode Island Reds, roos.

Do they just add roos automatically for warmth if you order pullets? If I order pullets I would only want pullets!

You can pay shipping insurance and tell them not to add male chicks for warmth.

I got an order from Ideal this week that had 15 extra males. Mine are barred rocks or black sex-links. One packing peanut died en route, I think his legs were sprattled. So I have 14 extra rooster chicks with my 10 straight run bantam cochins. I think I have 5 pullets out of 24 babies!

Yellow chicks = white adults. (Most of the time) Maybe leghorns or cornish x's. if it's the latter and you don't plan to eat them I'm sorry.
