This is funny! I ordered mine from MPC on Jan. 28--- and I also have a ship date of April 12th!!! Like you I have waited a long time and am sooooo excited!
So...now I've got to thinking about it, and since I am only an hour or so away from Meyer, I wonder if there is any chance the Post Office would get the chicks tonight AND call me tonight, even if they were closed? Or would they just wait until they open tomorrow before calling? We are a little suburban post office, but they are used to getting chick shipments.
I ordered my first five chickens from MPC in late Feb., with a shipping date of March 15. Since I am in California, I was expecting them on Wednesday or Thursday. Sure enough, got a call from my USPS carrier on March 16 (my b-day! what a great surprise gift!) around noon- he delivered the beautiful healthy peepers straight to my door. MPC is absolutely wonderful and I recommend them to anyone in Alameda County (our limit is 6 chickens here in the 'burbs so they're great for small orders).
