Wow! That is a LOT of eggs!

I tried candling the eggs but didn't see anything I guess. Must of done something wrong, don't know how to do it??? I put them in the bator just a few mins. ago & hoping for the best!

The temp dropped & so did the humidity but I will chceck in a few & am sure it went back up to normal, I just hope there are babies starting in there.

I can't take it!

HA HA Here is my update...

Eggs have been in for 3 hours and 45 minutes. The temp went WAY down and I finally have it regulated..again..I think

I KNOW I said I wasn't going to mess with the humidity but I did...

The humidity is now 37% and the temp reads (currently) 100. The crazy/frustrating thing is that the teno goes to 102 for 3 seconds not bad considering I think it probably changes to 102 when it is actually about 101.5 and for 3 seconds I doubt the inner egg is changing any.

The light bulb goes off.....12 minutes later the light bulb comes on. The temp on the Acurite reads 95 YIKES! but it really goes down fast. I have another thermometer..regular glass thermometer...it reads just under 100 when the light comes back on..MAYBE as low as 98 for just a little bit then right back up. The light bulb goes on....stays on about the same amount of time before cutting off again. In theory....I think...the internal egg isn't having enough time to loose enough heat to harm the growth. Cycling every 12-15 minutes??

I think I am good....
What do you all think?

Unless you are going to make me worry...then I don't want to know!

Well, I am new to this too, so I am just hoping our hatches are good! Great would be better, so I will say GREAT!

You are probably right about the inner temp. Mine has been at about 100.4 & then it goes to 100.6 & then back to 100.4.....wonder what that is all about. The humidity was at 37 & I am going to check now since I just put the eggs in at 9:20 pm....

Oh geeze...it went to 100.8 & humidity is 35. Wonder why the temp went up .2 - .4 degrees? Humm....

I wonder when we should candle the eggs? At what day of being in the incubator?

So was it difficult to make your own bator? What about the lighting part? I think the DH could do that part of it but he doesn't think I need another one....what does he know!!!!

The only thing I don't like it the big swing in temp but I think its the thermostat...buts its a quick one...

ha ha its in the closet I had to shut the door

Mines in the master bathroom! I find myself in there a lot lately....lol Just staring at the eggs.

& they've only been in there for 1 hours....I need to get a real life

Do you ever notice the weird looks people give you when you talk about your chickens & coops you want to build, etc....? Well, those looks tell me I need to get a real life, I thought I already had one!

You're going to get air-temp swings like that with a still air... 95-103ish, usually. When putting in eggs the first time, yes, the temps are going to go down. Don't tweak it until it's been running for 12-24 hours, because if you turn it up it might get too hot. Let the eggs/air stabilize first before tweaking. A lot of people use a water wiggler (water toy for kids) to simulate the inside temp of an egg. Use an indoor/outdoor thermometer with a probe, and the probe goes in the wiggler. That way it doesn't matter what the air temps are, as long as the wiggler stays close to 99.5°F.
And if you have a thermometer/hygrometer, the whole thing has to be in the incubator, because the base measures the humidity. A lot of people don't realize that and drown their chicks trying to get the humidity up when they're not even reading it inside the incubator.

Good luck, guys. I'm finally down to one incubator running... *sigh* I miss the sound of the fans...
