Sorry I haven't been back to report, been super busy. Nigel, didn't make it. I also lost one of my orpingtons. Saturday night was spent boo-hooing and loving on my other babies. Then reality set in, I went to my 'chicken' room and started cleaning and sanitzing like a mad person. I'm not going to let another bird die without a fight. I went and got plastic tubs. Made all the babies temp. housing. I figured the tubs would be a lot easier to clean for now. Took apart all the cages. Everything is getting cleaned. I made up a few gallons of medicated water and dosed everyone with infant supplements. Checked everyones little bottoms and cleaned everyones feet. (Everyone is hating me at the moment) But everyone is safe and quiet, and super CLEAN! (found out: Chickens really don't like having their feet washed!!) Don't even ask about how they feel on having their butts inspected!!
Anyhoo, after the madness settled; They seem to be doing better. Everyone is eating and drinking. They weren't real happy with their 'new digs' but I think they are coming around. They are quiet and seem settled for now. I'm hoping they will all be back to loving me in the morning.
I have a regiment planned with the corid, but how often do I dose them with the infant supplements? (Which isn't the easiest task I've had to do, I might add.) They are like a kid with medicine. I remember my son would lock is lips so hard, there wasn't any thing that was going to pry them open. Chickens were doing the same thing(sort of) With their little clinched beaks. I more or less, smeared it on their beaks hoping some slipped in.
So anyway, that is the sum of my weekend(in a nutshell) Hope the swap went great! I haven't had a chance to really check on it or ask anyone.
I hope Zoo's new babies are doing well. I have seen pics! They are so so cute!
As soon as I'm comfortable that whatever is going on here in the Moore Hen house is over, I'll start talking about adding to the family!
Thanks to everyone for all the advice and information on meds!
And LOOK, no smilies! Just too flippin' tired right now.
(ok one)(sorry, couldn't resist!!)
